Here are the Cover Songs that I have recorded over the years. I have started doing some newer recordings recently but some of the recordings are pretty old.
My recording equipment was not nearly as good on the older recordings but (at this point) I was in better shape musically so in some cases they were pretty good.
New Mixcraft Recordings:
Here is my new recording of my old USA, South Medley.
Livin in the USA, Written by Chuck Berry
The South is Gonna Do it Again, written by Charlie Daniels
Notes about the song
I wanted to try some of the bass and drum loops that are included with the Mixcraft software so I found a song medley that I used to play years ago that mostly fit the bass and drum patterns.
Here is my REVISED recording of AGE - Version 6c from 4/28/2018:
Written by Jim and Ingred Croce
Here is my recording of AGE - Version 5a from 2/11/2018:
Written by Jim and Ingred Croce
Notes about the song
I do the song slower than Jim and since he wrote it and is the pro, he does it better (but at least I have more current recording equipment!).
And here is the original song from Jim Croce (in a YouTube video)
Old 4 Track Recordings:
The songs below lost some quality in the conversions over the years. I originally had them in Real Audio format. Later, after that format became obsolete, I converted them to MP3s but I they lost some quality in the process (and the recording quality was not that great to begin with).
Here is my recording of Norwegian Wood:
(by: The Beatles)
Notes about the song
My version of the Beatles song Norweigian Wood.
I think the Beatles had a 12 string and some other cool stuff (besides their talent), I used my synthesized mandolin and sitar in the background for this one :-)
Here is my recording of Me and Bobbi Mcgee:
(by: Kris Kristofferson, Fred Foster)
Notes about the song
This one is mostly acoustic guitar but I also added my favorite synthesized mandolin too.
I pretty much used the Grateful Dead version as a starting point for this one.
Here is my recording of We Used to Know:
Early Jethro Tull, (by: Ian Anderson)
Notes about the song
This is an Early Jethro Tull Song. I've always liked the song, then I accidently did some GREAT Synth solos. Check out the synth solos... the first one is at 0:50 (counter on the left). I had those Crazy Jethro (OK Ian) Flute solos in mind.
Here is my recording of Hurts Me Too:
Blues: (from a G Dead album) (by: Elmore James)
Notes about the song
I revived this one from many years ago, after listening to an old recording that my friend Jeff and I did in the basement of our high school one night. I wanted to record a regular blues and chose this one. Then I broke out my old Fender Jaguar Electric guitar (that barley works anymore, has bad electronics and can not stay in tune) and added the Electric guitar part... It was OK for blues... I think that this might be one of the only "real blues" songs that I have recorded.
Here is my recording of Railroad Blues:
Boogie: (from a G Dead album) (by:Noah Lewis)
Notes about the song
An old copy song that I got off a Greatful Dead Album. Once again, I was trying to get back to some boogie type stuff.
Here is my recording of On the Road Again:
Written by: Willie Nelson
Notes about the song
Another song that I've always enjoyed playing and just did as a quick recording. In retrospect, I could have filled this in quite a bit for a better production... maybe next time.
Here is my recording of Mr Bojangles:
You remember this one... (by: Jeff Walker)
Notes about the song
Good Ol Mr. Bojangles. I started this one with acoustic guitar and bass only then, as the song progressed, I added synthesized strings and a basson too! (at the Chours)
Cover Songs Above Arranged and Performed by Rob Chapman
(Except where noted)...
I've also posted a video on YouTube of some cover songs from some live shows that I did way back in 1990 and the Village Squire restaurants in Mchenry and Crystal Lake Illinois.
Check it out, if you like: 1990 Village Squire Shows - my semi-acoustic sets
I learned later that you are not really supposed to do cover songs on YouTube without copyright permission but they have never given me a hard time about this video.
